Mice can cause great damage to your home !

The most common mouse which you may find inside your home is the "house mouse" (Mus musculus) which is considered one of the most troublesome pests.

House mice are gray or brown with relatively large ears and small eyes and a bare (or nearly hairless) tail. An adult weighs less than 1 ounce and is about 5 to 7 inches long (including the tail which is about 3 inches long).

A single female house mice can have litters every 40 to 50 days. There are usually five or six offspring in each litter.

Those young mice can breed once they are just over 1 month old.

A small mouse problem can become serious in a couple of months time.

Although house mice usually feed on cereal grains, they will eat almost any kind of food. They spend most of their day eating anything they can find.

They are excellent climbers and can run up any rough vertical surface.

They will run horizontally along wire cables or ropes and can jump up 13 inches from the floor onto a flat surface.

They can slip through a crack that a pencil will fit into (sightly larger than 1/4 inch in diameter).

If you don't actually see the mice themselves, you can recognize them by their droppings which you may find in corners, near food, in drawers, or anywhere that the mouse explores.

The droppings are 1/8 to 1/4 inch in length and have pointed ends.
